More books means more reviews! Though I read these a while ago, I still have some pretty strong thoughts on these books.
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
Published July 26, 2016
5 stars
Kidnapped and dumped into a universe that’s not his, Jason Dessen fights for his life trying to get back to his wife and son. The only problem is, what if he has to fight himself?
I read this book in one sitting because it’s action packed and easy to absorb with its enthralling plot and set of characters. We always read about alternate universes and think about how cool it must be to access them. Dark Matter made me grateful that we haven’t been able to interact with the other versions of ourselves because this book took a dark turn really fast.
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy (Montague Siblings #2) by Mackenzi Lee
Published October 2, 2018
2 stars
One of my most anticipated releases of 2018 was left abandoned and unfinished. Honestly, I don’t know what happened. Mackenzi Lee’s first book in the Montague Siblings installment was amazing, so for this to be underwhelming was such a shock to the book community.
I loved Felicity in the first book. She was snarky, witty, driven, and the most interesting character. This book made her look whiney, annoying, and clueless as she tries to navigate her way around Europe to find a doctor who would let her be under their employ. Second-book Felicity made first-book Felicity look like a stranger. Where is she? I want her back.
Have you read these books? What do you think of them? I’m currently working on my backlog rather than new releases so expect reviews from rather “older” books!
I’ve only read Dark Matter, but I really enjoyed it! It’s not my typical genre and it was a twisted read. Definitely good!

Really disappointed to hear Felicity changed so much in the second book. Lady’s Guide has been one of my most anticipated as like you I loved her character in Gentleman’s Guide. I’ll no doubt still read it but will hold off till the library gets it in. Thanks for the warning.
