Waiting on Wednesday is a fun way to show the books you’re highly anticipating and is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine. We decided to do it here too!!
A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnson
Lo-Melkhiin killed three hundred girls before he came to her village, looking for a wife. When she sees the dust cloud on the horizon, she knows he has arrived. She knows he will want the loveliest girl: her sister. She vows she will not let her be next.
And so she is taken in her sister’s place, and she believes death will soon follow. Lo-Melkhiin’s court is a dangerous palace filled with pretty things: intricate statues with wretched eyes, exquisite threads to weave the most beautiful garments. She sees everything as if for the last time. But the first sun rises and sets, and she is not dead. Night after night, Lo-Melkhiin comes to her and listens to the stories she tells, and day after day she is awoken by the sunrise. Exploring the palace, she begins to unlock years of fear that have tormented and silenced a kingdom. Lo-Melkhiin was not always a cruel ruler. Something went wrong.
Far away, in their village, her sister is mourning. Through her pain, she calls upon the desert winds, conjuring a subtle unseen magic, and something besides death stirs the air.
Back at the palace, the words she speaks to Lo-Melkhiin every night are given a strange life of their own. Little things, at first: a dress from home, a vision of her sister. With each tale she spins, her power grows. Soon she dreams of bigger, more terrible magic: power enough to save a king, if she can put an end to the rule of a monster.
I NEED THIS BOOK IN MY LIFE. NOW.
This book is a retelling of A Thousand and One Nights and that is the story that inspired one of my all time favorite books, The Wrath and the Dawn. I don’t care that there’s a chance that the plots will be similar. I just want more! This book is also being compared to Cruel Beauty, which I also loved. This book is coming out on October 6, 2015, and is being published by Disney Hyperion.
A teen is forced to make a fresh start after witnessing a violent crime—but love and danger find her anyway in this novel from Becca Fitzpatrick, the New York Times bestselling author of the Hush, Hush saga.
Stella Gordon is not her real name. Thunder Basin, Nebraska, is not her real home. This is not her real life.
After witnessing a lethal crime, Stella Gordon is sent to the middle of nowhere for her own safety before she testifies against the man she saw kill her mother’s drug dealer.
But Stella was about to start her senior year with the boyfriend she loves. How can she be pulled away from the only life she knows and expected to start a new one in Nebraska? Stella chafes at her protection and is rude to everyone she meets. She’s not planning on staying long, so why be friendly? Then she meets Chet Falconer and it becomes harder to keep her guard up, even as her guilt about having to lie to him grows.
As Stella starts to feel safer, the real threat to her life increases—because her enemies are actually closer than she thinks…
I am trying my hardest not to key smash right now because the author of my most favorite series (Hush, Hush) is releasing yet another book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My expectations for this book are very high after being completely smitten by the lovely Patch Cipriano from the Hush, Hush series. To say I’m excited about this one would be a gross understatement!
Dangerous Lies is set to be published by November, 2015. I. Am. Ready.
